Calling the World

In any fictional world names mean everything. I often joke that one of my hobbies is creating names. Most of my characters are given names I completely made up with no basis in reality. Some characters are inspired by actual names. I have been known to use names found in our world for minor characters. There is also the fun of using another language to name a character for a trait they possess.

Naquin is probably one of the most important names as it is the world as a whole. Within Naquin are five countries: Galiar, Halmion, Falarin and Taxilous. Sometimes names just simply come to mind. This was the case in the geography.

Miharena is perhaps one of my favorite names I've created for a character. I think Miharena technically named herself as I recall writing her name for the first time in a flurry of inspiration. It is elegant and yet the spelling is purely phonetic making the name simple. All names have a meaning. Miharena's name is given meaning in the world of Naquin. She is informed it means Wild Rose in Falarin

It is no secret that a new character is introduced in the second book (Song of Change/SoC) simply called Kel. Yes Kel is her full name. Introducing Kel also allows me to introduce my own race of people: The Kylani. Kel is only Half-Kylani but she still has the inherited ability to alter her appearance.

All of my names have a history to them and meaning including my own Psuedonym.

In school I took a number of years German. In High School German classes I went by the name Lisebetta which would later be shortened to Lise. Brandes is my mother's maiden name.
